Executive Leadership & Strategic Vision
Key Responsibilities
Presides over all board meetings, sets the strategic direction of the organization, and serves as the primary liaison between the board and the executive director. Ensures the foundation operates in alignment with its mission and values.
Ideal Qualifications
Senior nonprofit or executive leadership experience, strong governance knowledge, and deep commitment to mental health equity and culturally affirming care.
Operations & Board Development
Key Responsibilities
Supports the Board Chair, leads board recruitment and onboarding, and steps in as acting chair when needed. Oversees committee coordination and ensures board members are engaged and effective.
Ideal Qualifications
Organizational leadership experience, strong interpersonal skills, and background in nonprofit governance or human resources.
Financial Oversight & Stewardship
Key Responsibilities
Oversees the financial health of the organization, reviews budgets and financial statements, leads the finance committee, and ensures compliance with fiscal policies. Works closely with the executive director on financial planning.
Ideal Qualifications
CPA, CFO, or equivalent financial expertise. Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant fund management, and audit processes.
Governance & Legal Compliance
Key Responsibilities
Maintains official board records, meeting minutes, and governing documents. Ensures the organization meets all legal filing requirements and that board decisions are properly documented and communicated.
Ideal Qualifications
Background in law, administration, or nonprofit compliance. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
Mental Health Programs & Clinical Integrity
Key Responsibilities
Provides clinical oversight for all mental health programs, ensures services meet professional and ethical standards, and advises the board on evidence-based practices. Champions culturally affirming, trauma-informed care.
Ideal Qualifications
Licensed mental health professional — psychiatrist, psychologist, or licensed clinical social worker — with experience serving Black and Brown communities.
Outreach, Partnerships & Advocacy
Key Responsibilities
Leads community outreach strategy, builds relationships with partner organizations, and ensures the foundation remains accountable to the communities it serves. Amplifies the voices of program participants in board decisions.
Ideal Qualifications
Deep roots in the St. Louis community, experience in grassroots organizing, advocacy, or social services, and a strong network of community partners.
Fundraising, Grants & Sustainability
Key Responsibilities
Leads the foundation's fundraising strategy, oversees grant writing and donor relations, and ensures long-term financial sustainability. Works with the treasurer to align development goals with the annual budget.
Ideal Qualifications
Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, grant management, and donor stewardship. Experience with foundation grants and individual giving campaigns.
